Building a dog house.

This term our Integrated unit is about the environment, so we made shelters for the animals suffering from deforestation. It was really depressing just thinking about all the poor animals that now have no homes. We got into groups of six, then started planning. We decided to make a shelter for a dog. Each group was only allowed three items to build their shelters with. Our group decided to use wood, a cardboard box and bubble wrap. While we were planning I was really nervous that our shelter wouldn't be strong enough, or the design would turn out to be terrible. Once we had finished planning we started to build.
First we unfolded the box, then cut it in half to make the walls. The wood was a great use for the back wall. Using a staple gun we stapled the two pieces of cardboard onto the wood. Now all we had to do was the roof, so we used bubble wrap (as it was waterproof). We placed the bubble wrap over top of the shelter, then stapled it down. Next we made sure everything was securely in place, by putting a few more staples in. Then we were done! I was so relieved that nothing bad had happened to our shelter in fact it wasn't just not bad, it was truly AMAZING!

This is the final product.
