Cultural festival

On Wednesday 16th December, we had a cultural festival.

We had been preparing for 3 days, it took a lot of effort. My group decided to make a presentation about Tonga. We did a colouring competition and a kahoot. If you don't know what a kahoot is, it is a online quiz that you can play with your friends.

On the day of the cultural festival, we listened to the IPU drummers. But boy were they loud. I felt like my eardrums were going to burst! As much as they were loud they were really talented. I know that I couldn't do any of what they just did, even if I practiced for 10,000 years.

After the drummers performed, Room Five had a dance to share with the Senior syndicate. In their dance they had the elements of first Five. There was friendship, trust and many more. After they had finished we requested an encore, so they did it all again.

The bell rang for lunch, I was so excited. We were going to have a shared lunch! But not just any shared lunch, it was a cultural shared lunch. Everyone brought something from their culture. I brought Dutch almond fingers. Other people brought samosas, mezzo soup, Victorian sponge cake. Russian pancakes French pastry, there was everything!

After lunch, it was time to set up our stalls. My group used the blue leaner in our classroom. After we set up it was time for our shifts I stayed  at the stall for the first shift. At first nobody came. They just looked and walked away. But the. The first person came. And then another and another! So we showed them the kahoot. After that more people came in.

Soon enough it was time for my next shift. Holly and I roamed around the classes. I stopped off at a Chinese fan stall. I learnt that Chinese fans were made of strips of bamboo. I also went to a cultural art stall. That was where I made a rangoli.

I had so much fun that day, but all good times have to end.
